The U.S. State Department recently sent Rennie Harris Puremovement, a Philadelphia-based hip-hop dance company, abroad on a five-week cultural diplomacy mission to Egypt, Israel, and the Palestinian territories. I met up with the company to get their impressions of post-revolution Egypt, hip-hop as a tool of non-violent empowerment for youth, and where to find the best hummus in the region.
